Project description:
Austria has played a trendsetting role in aviation liberalisation resulting in Vienna International Airport (VIE) becoming the second airport worldwide to be privatised via a share flotation at the Vienna and New York stock exchange.
For a long time since 1998 the senior management of AIRPORT CONSULTING VIENNA (The predecessor company of AIRPORT COMPETENCE) was regularly providing advice to the airport management of VIE in liberalisation- and privatisation-related aspects and represented VIE in international airport privatisations in numerous cases.
The procedures performed consist inter alia of:

  • Preparation of airport staff for the privatisation
  • Strategy for the Home Carrier as the biggest client of the airport
  • Tariff Policy
  • Preparation of liberalisation of the ground handling activities in line with the requirements of the European Union
  • Implementation of tender proceedings for concession contracts for commercial services
  • Slot management concept resulting in the foundation of a separate slot-dedication-company

Provided services:
For over a decade AIRPORT COMPETENCE delivered and elaborated a number of innovative solutions for the airport management of VIE and guided the airport through various complex stages of its strategic development, such as, for example:
