Jazeera Airways operates from the Kuwait International Airport and as the airport has surpassed its passenger design capacity, causing inconvenience to both, passengers and operators, Jazeera Airways Board has taken the decision to build the airline’s own terminal with the working title “The J9 Terminal”. The J9 Terminal concept is to build a modern spacious terminal with a fresh look attracting passengers with its simple and easy access, hassle-free fast check-in service, one point security check, efficient immigration process, sufficient amenities and spacious and fast luggage collection facilities. The concept should consider lounge facilities for Jazeera Airways’ growing Business Class clientele, airlines airport operations offices and offices for the government airport control Civil Aviation bodies such as security, customs, immigration, etc.). The terminal will aim mainly to serve Jazeera Airways with the potential to serve other selected airlines to the overall capacity of 2,5 mil. passengers. The concept has to be based on economical, tasteful open design.
Based on provided plans and sketches the extension projects currently under discussion are evaluated. All aspects of the development are examined, from the impact on the airport’s landside, passenger handling capacities and terminal layout to operational implications on the airside. Alterations and alternatives are drawn out based on the applicable calculations and according to international standards.
Due to the limited development area available on the existing airport all extensions have to be approved by several stakeholders. To ensure a smooth development every suggested project is assessed regarding feasibility and efficiency. All “pro´s and con´s” are identified, evaluated and discussed before an official application is filed.
